The glint of metal could be seen in the dull light of the high moon. A spark of steel, the gout of gas turned to flame. Roasting the foot of coffee scented cigar. A dead puff of mock lungs exhaled the thick smog in to the still air.

“That thug...Jacob didn’t turn out to be much of a problem. Now I’m what people would call charming on my worst days. However, I got this gift you see. I can make myself even more appealing. The center of attention, yanno? Yeah, that sorta charm. Jacob wanted to have a conversation, so I told him of the Roman Empire. I know, I know. I never really had an interest in it but trust me, it’s really fuckin’ cool. Especially when you’re tryin’ to build an Empire in this...social climate.”

Another puff of smoke, displayed out to the attendance of spirits that he confessed to. A deep heavy sigh escaped his lips in tandem with the effects of the cigar.

“I got some information out of him. Some boxes, some sand, some pillar or somethin’. All stuff I had to report to my family as soon as possible. Scarlett you would have loved this guy. Bald, big muscles and utterly empty in the head. That sorta thing, yeah. We parted on good terms, made him see the errors of his ways and we left. Now, the only thing left to do was to find Henry and get back before...my time ran out.”

The Sun. How he missed it. His routine felt all the worse now that it’s rays would be the end of his budding life. He still had things to live for, so he couldn’t admire it’s beauty just yet. Although, truly, he would have loved nothing more than to paint it one more time. Idle thoughts of a dead heart never beat more than once, he told himself.

“I went back to wait on my territory. Other families would never dare touch that land without bein’ very careful or very fuckin’ stupid. Henry did eventually show up, lookin’ way worse than when he left but we didn’t have time for pamperin’ the guy. We got in the car and left with haste. On the way, Henry told me things I can’t say but they were very, very interestin’. I had to report this back for sure. Also interesting is that, this time, Henry didn’t lie to my face. More on that...later.”

A shake of his head followed. The events that followed would have been his first time coming across someone in Frenzy. The beastly state that resides in all Kindred, Barnaby had told him. Yet Vito was never sure how it looked, how it came about. Barnaby always said it, the beast that is, was there to be used and tamed when needed. Vito’s own beast was calm most of the time, of course a Ventrue had to maintain control at all times. He was all the more familiar with the beast when he arose that very next day and witnessed it’s arrival first hand.

“What came next was my normal song and dance. Went home, checked up on the place, worked out any kinks with the staff and was gettin’ ready for bed. I did try to call my family but they weren’t around at the moment. I had no choice but to go to bed. Wakin’ up is easier for me now ever since my little...’vacation’. I was mid shower when I was told Henry ran out the place like a psychopath and in to the woods. I gave my orders and left Henry’s fate in his own hands. I had to return a phone call…”
